Unoccupied buildings in Dauphin may be a thing of the past.
The City of Dauphin are looking at new ways in ensuring that buildings are no longer vacant through legislation.
According to Assistant CAO Sharla Griffiths, the City does have authority in establishing that law.
"Through the municipal act the City of Dauphin has the ability to create a vacant building by-law, and the goal of the by-law honestly is to encourage use of buildings in town... nobody really likes to see vacant boarded up buildings, and our goal is to encourage those to be useful to the community again."
Griffiths also say if the by law is enacted it would apply to both residential and non-residential buildings.
