A local Parkland farmer is taking serious notice of potential overland flooding this spring.

The Manitoba Government recently released their 2017 January Conditions Report due to the high soil  moisture and winter precipitation to date.

Although nothing is set in stone, local Parkland farmer Jack Bremner is anticipating the worst.

"Well I would say were in a lot of trouble here, we're not as bad off as some areas because we haven't had the snowfall but if you go through the park there are places up there that have five feet of snow and if we get a fast melt all that water hits us pretty quick."

Manitoba Infrastructure Minister Blaine Pedersen says, "We have experienced some unusual winter weather to this point that has contributed to an expanded risk of overland flooding in Manitoba."

The Manitoba government and municipalities are continuing to prepare for spring flooding.
