After a weekend of excessive snowfall, Winnipeg city crews are on standby to help emergency crews if need be.
The Manitoba Government and General Employees' Union says the storms have been a big challenge for paramedics delaying response times to emergencies.
In the Prairie Mountain area, procedures are set in place for dealing with unexpected weather conditions according to Regional EMS Manager for Prairie Mountain Health Louise Stitt.
"We also do have a couple of things in place, so for example we had highway closures and road closures in the rural areas basically everywhere...so what we have in place as a bit of a back-up, is we have communications with the department of highways, we have communications with RCMP with respect to what areas might be most accessible."
Parts of Southern Manitoba received up to 30 cm of snow over the weekend.
