After two months of declines, recycling numbers are up in Dauphin for November.
They're up five per cent overall to the end of November compared to last year.
Mayor Eric Irwin says the new recycling containers were rolled out in September, so next year they're hoping will be a big positive change.
He says the best way to keep landfill costs down is to keep everything possible out of the garbage system.
"If you compost everything and recycle everything, you're probably down to one or two little bags every two weeks, and if we can do that as a community and as individual taxpayers, you'll be far ahead."
Starting in January, garbage in the City of Dauphin will only be picked up on recycling collection days. In April, a door-to-door yard waste pickup service will begin.
