With snow piling up across southern Manitoba, power lines are now being weighed down by all the snow and ice.
Manitoba Hydro has been receiving calls that their power lines are hanging low to the ground with snow and ice on them.
Public Affairs Officer Bruce Owen says that the low hanging lines can be hazardous to civilians.
"When the lines get too close to the ground, it poses a danger and a risk to the public. We are emphasizing that people have to stay away from these lines, you have to treat them as if they are energized, live lines, and they are dangerous."
Manitoba Hydro says that some power outages can be expected while the lines are being repaired.
