Signature Mediation has been as assigned as the fisheries envoy for Manitoba fishers, as they prepare to enter the independent market next summer.
The province of Manitoba announced they'd be withdrawing from the Freshwater Fish Marketing Act sometime during the summer of 2017.
This means Manitoba fishers would be able to sell their own fish, without going through Freshwater Fish.
Partner at Signature Mediation, Perry Moore, feels that the talks he's been to so far, have been successful.
"Absolutely they're going well, there's a definite interest for information. The fishers have been in a system that was formed in 1969. Some of them have been pushing very hard for change in the marketing system for a long time. So, for the most part, there's a great deal of anticipation about what the new world is going to look like."
Signature Mediation expects to conclude their talks with fishers by the middle of December.
