This week kinesiologists across the country will be urging Canadians to meet the minimum weekly recommended level of physical activity.
Today marks the beginning of National Kinesiology Week, with various activities being offered across the country by the Canadian Kinesiology Alliance (CKA).
Kiniseologist Kathlyn Hossack with CKA, feels that advancements in technology has deterred us from being more physically active with one specific group at a higher risk.
"It's stayed about the same for quite along time which is almost as big of an issue as it getting worse... as far as age, again it's about the same although that being said young kids are at a higher risk."
A recent survey by CKA reveals that one in two Canadians do not move enough on a regular basis.
