Dauphin RCMP have confirmed that a fire that destroyed a home on Sunday was the result of arson.
At 3:25 am on September 11th, Dauphin RCMP were dispatched to a shed on fire at the Fas Gas which quickly spread to the residence adjacent to the property.
Owner of the home, Simone Menard says when she was awoken by police she had no idea what was going on.
"I just heard voices of guys telling me to wake up and that my house is on fire and I have to get out... I was like what? There were no fire alarms going off, I didn't believe the house was on fire."
She later said, "As we were passing the front of my house a wall over my bedroom was caught on fire, we went to the police car -- waited for a bit there -- took us to the paramedics and checked out okay, everyone is fine we made it out unharmed."
Menard and her three children lost all of their clothing in the fire and are currently living with a family friend.
The family says any donations are greatly appreciated.
