Water Work in Gilbert Plains

Gilbert Plains' rural water system is getting an upgrade, and during installation customers may experience some inconveniences.

Additional flushout assemblies are being put in, starting today.

The municipality says, depending on weather, the project could take up to 30 days.

Death of Man with Epilepsy in Winnipeg Remand Centre Under Investigation

Manitoba Justice says it's investigating the death of a Winnipeg Remand Centre inmate whose wife says was denied his epilepsy medication.

Rochelle Pranteau says her common-law husband, Errol Greene, told her staff denied him his medicine -- which he took three times a day -- from the time he arrived at the institution on April 29th.

On May 1st, Pranteau says she was on the phone Greene from the institution when he began slipping into a seizure, and she could hear him struggling for breath.

A spokesperson for Manitoba Justice would not say whether Greene was refused his medication, citing privacy legislation, but said inmates sometimes need to see institutional doctors before medication is approved.
