Source of Oil Leak Found
The deputy minister of the economy in Saskatchewan says the pipeline breach that leaked up to 250-thousand litres of oil and other material into the North Saskatchewan River earlier this month has been uncovered.
Laurie Pushor says the section of the Husky Energy pipeline where the spill occurred into the North Saskatchewan River near Maidstone on July 20th was dug up Friday.
Pushor says the excavation has now stopped while plans are made to remove the section of pipe without causing a further release of crude oil.
The government has said it expects Husky to submit a full report on the breach within 90 days of the pipeline breach.
