After next week the Ochre River School playground will be complete.
Member of the Parent Council for the school, Liza Hess says the project wrapped up a lot quicker than expected.
Hess says the playground also ended up costing a lot less than what they expected.
"We decided to go with wood fiber ground covering which cut our expenses pretty much in half. Probably all set and done it was closer to $65,000 instead of $107,000 to $110,000."
The only thing left to do is put up a wood timber boarder that has to go up on the north side of the playground.
Hess says that she is most happy about getting the sand off the playground and replacing it with wood fiber chips.
"It was getting to the point where it was going to be a health hazard for the kids because it was being used as a litter box. So, that is nice that we now have a wood fiber that will knit together. It will be completely accessible for anyone in a wheelchair, parents with strollers and kids who walk with a walker."
The best part about the playground is the new play structure which is in the shape of a pirate ship.
