There's no fires allowed in McCreary, putting it alongside several other Manitoba communities.

In an effort to prevent wildfires, McCreary has put a ban on all burning in the municipality, effective immediately.

Here in the Parkland, Roblin, Ethelbert, Lakeshore, Mossey River, Riding Mountain West, and Minitonas-Bowsman also have bans in place. Grandview isn't allowing fires within five kilometres of Riding Mountain and the Duck Mountains, and asks residents in other areas call the municipal office before any burning.

The province has canceled burning permits in eastern, central, and parts of western Manitoba, and has put restrictions on motorized back-country travel in various places.
