After a recent informal ballot, Gilbert Plains will look to renovate and add to their community hall.
45% of people who voted chose to go that direction to keep the hall running, which, as it stands, is currently not up to code.
Reeve Blake Price estimates renovating and adding to the hall would cost about $750,000.
He says he is fairly confident they can get the money without raising taxes.
"That's not where we want to go. I think we feel very confident that we can get the funding through government programs, and not just government programs, but there's other funding in place as well. We could go to the corporate sector, if you'd like, for some funding."
Price says it was encouraging to see so many of the town's people come out to vote, and for so many to be in favour of keeping the hall alive.
He says he will have a better idea on the next steps after the municipal budget is approved.
"That's over the next 10 days that our budget should be finalized and processed. If it gets approved, that would give us a means of going forward. Then we would start to work on grant applications and taking a look at different floor plans."
Some of the work that would need be completed on the hall would be to move the washrooms up to the main floor, upgrade the building's ventilation and insulation, as well as general upgrades and maintenance.
