It has been a week to remember.
The Manitoba Summer Games, Powered by Manitoba Hydro, has reached the second to final day in Dauphin and the surrounding area. Beginning last Sunday with the Opening Ceremonies at Credit Union Place, the 2024 edition of the Games will officially come to a close on Saturday afternoon.
Donna Davidson says the Closing Ceremonies will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
"There will be some team awards, spirit awards, and we will be bringing out all of the Phase 2 athletes," said Davidson. "We will also present the medals for sailing and cross-country running. It will be a special day."
Many are still talking about the Opening Ceremonies and how great they were. Well more than a thousand fans packed the stands.
While the festivites will begin at 2:00 on Saturday, the doors will open at 1:00. It is first-come first-served for seating and the concession will be open for anyone looking for a bite.
Looking back at the week it has been, Davidson wants to thank everyone in Dauphin, from the athletes, to the officials, and everything in between.
"I am so proud of our community and the volunteers that stepped up," offered Davidson. "We have been hearing from teams that have travelled to compete and they are all so happy. I am so proud to be a part of our incredible community."
So head to Credit Union Place on Saturday afternoon to wrap up the 2024 Manitoba Summer Games, Powered by Manitoba Hydro.
