Students at DRCSS will have the chance to get not only a high school diploma, but also a Health Care Aid certificate if they wish.
Starting next fall, DRCSS and ACC will team up to provide a dual credit program for graduating students if there is sufficient interest.
They plan to provide theory study in semester one and then the in second semester students will complete the program which will require them to do practicum hours at ACC. Students will likely be able to earn five or six credits towards high school graduation through the ACC course.
Superintendent, Donna Davidson says there is requirements students must meet in order to be eligible for the program.
"By the end of January the student has to have all their credits that they need to graduate, including the ones that transfer over for Health Care Aid."
Davidson says this is a great opportunity for students.
"We're excited about looking at this partnership with ACC and providing an opportunity for some of our graduates to graduate not only with a high school diploma, but a health care aid certificate as well."
Their plan is to make 10 spots available for to MVSD students. And this will kick off in the 2016-2017 school year.
