Keystone Agricultural Producers of Manitoba are concerned about the future of farming, and want all political parties to make this a priority who ever is elected.
The high cost of running a farm business has resulted in a 73% drop over 20 years for farmers younger than 35, and Manitoba farmers are telling KAP that being able to keep up with all the expenses will be difficult. So KAP is suggesting political parties look more into having programs that will assist farmers if something goes wrong.

NDP candidate for Swan River, Ron Kostyshyn says that he believes Manitoba and all across Canada we need to bring back a specific program.

"What we need to do is bring back Ag Stability. Ag Stability was a program that was somewhat reduced and it was referring to the reference margin. I truly think that's the importance of discussions we have with the federal government and the provincial governments that we need to provide some financial bank of stability for the young generations."

KAP is hoping whoever comes into power creates innovative programs for young farmers so they can continue the agriculture tradition.
