The Fisher Branch RCMP is investigating the shooting of a six-year-old on Peguis First Nation.

On Monday night, the child was brought to the hospital with a gunshot wound, and police were notified of the incident.

Initial investigation determined that two children at a residence in the community found a firearm. A four-year-old shot the gun, which hit the six-year-old. They were taken to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Yesterday, police executed a search warrant at the residence and seized five firearms, a crossbow, and ammunition. An adult male was arrested and will face a charge of unlawful storage of a firearm. He was released with an upcoming court date.
