A group of Gilbert Plains elementary students have made a big donation to the CancerCare unit at Dauphin's hospital.
11-year-old Olivia Tokar and her friends, Lanelle Gulak (10), Kathryn Gulak (7), Keira Sanko (10), and Jayla Wreggit (12) raised $638 through various bake sales.
Olivia says she wanted to do this for her family, and she asked her friends for help.
"Because we almost lost my auntie, and we lost my grandpa (to cancer), but my grandma and auntie are survivors so I wanted to thank all the nurses and everybody."
The girls made their donation in person at Dauphin's CancerCare unit this morning.
They've sold cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and some Christmas ornaments they made.
Another bake sale is being held at the H.O.P.E. Marketshop in the GPCI gym on December 5.
