A Dauphin restauranteur didn't think an electrical fire in a deep fryer at her flagship location would cause the destruction it did.
Corrina Abrey says she wasn't in Corrina's on Main when the fire began, but she got there as soon as she got the call about it.
"When I got there I thought it was just going to be the firemen go in and put the fire out and we'll have a few days of clean-up and back to business, but fire has its own path I guess and I guess it's generally destructive."
The fire destroyed the Dauphin Village Mall, which contained Corrina's on Main, the CNUF Office and shop, and Cuts Ahead hair salon.
Abrey is thanking the community, businesses, staff, the fire department, and more for their response and support.
She says nobody was hurt, and that's what it boils down to.
"I'm not grieving stuff, you know. I'm missing the memories and missing the work atmosphere and like, we were a real tight-knit family there that we had so much fun working in that building together and that's gone."
Abrey says they will recreate that atmosphere at Corrina's on the Boulevard.
