New traffic lights on River and Mountain are being installed.
Manitoba Infrastructure began work at the intersection this morning.
It was decided to make this a signalized intersection with a controlled pedestrian crossing after a traffic study was conducted.
Over the past number of years there have been multiple vehicle crashes and near misses.
The city hopes the lights will improve both pedestrian and vehicle safety.
The intersection is expected to be fully operational by September 12th.
