Miranda Lambert writes song for Reese Witherspoon movie

MUSIC NEWS: TUESDAY, APRIL 28, 2015

MIRANDA LAMBERT WRITES FOR REESE WITHERSPOON MOVIE

Miranda Lambert never wrote a song for a movie before Reese Witherspoon asked her for one for her upcoming film, ``Hot Pursuit.'' Lambert says as a songwriter, she's used to telling her own story, while this was a case of doing it for a couple of characters. Lambert says Witherspoon was sweet enough to give her some notes about the movie for insight. The result was the song ``Two of a Crime.'' So when will we see Lambert acting in a movie? Probably no time soon. Lambert says she's done enough acting to know that music is her thing. ``Hot Pursuit'' comes out May 8.

STEPHEN HAWKING WEIGHS IN ON ZAYN MALIK

If you could ask a question of one of the most brilliant minds in the world, wouldn't you ask about Zayn Malik leaving One Direction? Someone did just that during a lecture given by physicist Stephen Hawking at the Sydney Opera House on Sunday. An audience member asked at the end of the lecture, ``What do you think is the cosmological effect of Zayn leaving One Direction and consequently breaking the hearts of millions of teenage girls across the world?'' Hawking's initial response:

``Finally, a question about something important.'' He advised any heartbroken young girl to pay attention to theoretical physics, because science may someday prove the existence of multiple universes. He says in one of those universes, Malik could still be in One Direction, and in another, he's happily married to that brokenhearted girl.

PRIDE-TORONTO

Toronto native David Furnish -- best known as the husband of singer Elton John -- will return to his hometown this June 28th to serve as grand marshal of the city's Pride parade.

Furnish says his family is excited to have him home, although John and the couple's two children won't be able to make the trip. He says that while he is thrilled to celebrate his first Toronto pride event, it is important not to become complacent about the issues that face the L-G-B-T community. Furnish says there is a critical need to raise awareness about H-I-V-AIDS, particularly among young men.

''THE VOICE``

Team Adam is down to a single performer as ``The Voice'' heads into a double elimination tonight. Of all the coaches, Blake Shelton is in the best shape with three singers left.

But Pharrell Williams is feeling good about his two remaining singers, Sawyer Fredericks and Koryn Hawthorne. Both have been favourites of the coaches and the viewers. Last night, Koryn turned in a stellar performance of ``Girl on Fire.'' Rival coach Christina Aguilera says Koryn seems to thrive under pressure. Team Xtina has two singers left going into tonight's results show.
