On September 26 a male entered a rural residence through a window. He went through the home gathering a bunch of items, including five firearms. As the man was making his way through the home, he encountered Boomer, a French Mastiff.
As the dog attempted to get away, he was shot three times, with a weapon that did not belong to the homeowner. The shooter fled. The homeowner arrived home as the male was exiting the residence. Polcie were called immediately. Officers attended and were able to locate and arrest the fleeing male.
An officer from Police Dog Services attended the scene with Police Dog Eddie and was able to quickly recover the firearms the suspect had hidden in the bush.
Isaiah Flett, who is 18 years old is from Peguis. He is facing the following charges: Reckless Discharge of Firearm, Injure or Endanger Animals, Breaking and Entering with Intent, and Break and Enter to Steal Firearm.
Flett is remanded in custody.
Boomer was pronounced deceased at the veterinarian’s office.
