Last night, Brandon police received a report that an argument had ensued between two men, one of them with a handgun and that shots were heard.

Police checked the area immediately after unable to locate any of the involved parties.

Police say, at 6:22 pm they received a 911 call indicating that a male had attended a downtown church and told a staff member when he came in that he was hiding from police because he shot someone.

Police attended the church where the accused was taken into custody without incident.

The 24-year-old accused Brandon man has been charged with Attempted Murder, Possession of a Restricted Weapon, Discharge Firearm, and Breach of Recognizance.   

The victim suffered a single gun shot wound to the his torso not requiring surgery, and was released from hospital.

Brandon Police say, the investigation is continuing and further charges are anticipated.
