Smoke from forest fires in Saskatchewan and the Northwest Territories has most of Manitoba under a special air quality statement from Environment Canada.
Meteorologist Terri Lang says it's the upper winds that guide where the smoke goes.
"Not the ones at the surface but the ones, you know, higher up. Right now they're blowing from the north and north-westerly and satellite picture sort of says it all, you can see where the smoke is blowing through and blowing it right over most of Saskatchewan and all of Manitoba with the exception of the extreme northeast. It's probably going to stick around for a fair part tonight and overnight and should start clearing more tomorrow."
Lang says Environment Canada advises people with known respiratory issues to take precautions.
