Mayor Eric Irwin says Dauphin has a wonderful community development story to tell.

Irwin says he was invited to speak at a Federation of Canadian Municipalities annual conference this month.

Irwin was on a panel with Ontario Auditor General Bonnie Lysyk and economist David Thompson, where he says he talked about getting the population involved in community building.

"I talked about how, you know, if you ask nicely and you, you know, get the population all involved in community building, then a lot of times they will donate money to things like the arena and the theatre and the skateboard park and a number of other things. And I talked about that and I talked about Countryfest and getting people involved in the community and how an entity like that can, you know, seed an awful lot of money for community projects."

Crediting Dauphin's volunteers, Irwin says there's no end to what can happen if everybody pulls together.
