Janice Filmon is now officially the new lieutenant governor of Manitoba.
The wife of former premier Gary Filmon was officially installed into the position in a ceremony that took place this afternoon at the legislature in Winnipeg.
Current premier Greg Selinger said in a statement that Filmon is a strong dedicated person, and he has no doubt that she will be an excellent lieutenant governor.
Selinger also thanked outgoing lieutenant governor Phillip Lee for his service in the position.
