The parent partnership council at Barker School is working on getting a new playground for the school.
The council is putting on a fundraising barbeque tomorrow from 11:00am to 2:00pm at the school.
A volunteer with the parent council, Sherrie Volk, says the current playground is outdated and it's due for a replacement.
"There's some safety issues with it at this point in time. It's definitely served its purpose. I'm not exactly sure how long the playground has been there. It is a wooden structure so it's showing its age a little bit with weather and use. The time has unfortunately come that we need to look at replacing it."
Volk says planning for the new playground is in the preliminary stages, and drawings for the new playground won't be available until September or October.
