Zebra mussels are now a concern for Winnipeg’s drinking water.

City officials are investing a lot of money to prevent a problem.

They announced one million dollars on control measures to prevent the mussels from clogging the intake structure at Shoal Lake by next year.

This involves the use of chlorine injections to kill the invasive species.
