While pet owners try to keep their cats and dogs safe from the extreme cold, livestock are also at an increased risk.
Dr. Kevin Steinbachs at Dauphin Vet Clinic gives some tips for making sure livestock survive the bitter cold.
"Most of our livestock are used to being outside, so as long as they are climatized to that and have proper nutrition and also proper shelter which may just be wind block and stuff like that. Usually the most important thing is that they have been fed properly and are being fed properly so that they have the energy to produce heat and keep warm."
Unlike livestock, dogs and cats may not be used to colder temperatures. Pet owners should always keep an eye on their pets.
