Environment Canada says May and June are the wettest months in Southern Manitoba, but precipitation numbers for this year are not normal.

Meteorologist Natalie Hasell says the Parkland is one of many areas in the province that are experiencing dry conditions right now.

"We've certainly seen a large swath in the Prairies of much drier than normal conditions. Certainly a lot of southern Saskatchewan is what could be described as a drought and I think that kinda extends into your area. There's some parts of the southwestern corner of Manitoba that are quite wet still, although less so than say a month ago.

Manitoba is not alone in dealing with dry weather conditions, as Hasell says dry areas can also be found in Saskatchewan and Alberta.

"The dry conditions in the north continue into northern Saskatchewan. Then there's an area in central Saskatchewan that's not too bad but then the southwestern of Saskatchewan and into southern Alberta is very very dry. There are other patches in Alberta that are dry as well, so this is a pretty widespread scenario."

Hasell says in addition to the Parkland, dry conditions can also be found in Northern Manitoba, and in between Winnipeg and Brandon.
