The Dauphin Community Band is believed to be in existence for close to 100 years.
In order to ensure its longevity, the city will take ownership of the band committee as of January 1, 2018.
Assistant CAO, Sharla Griffiths, explains how the city values the band.
“I do want to stress that the city of Dauphin definitely values our community bands, both the jazz band and concert band and support them and look forward to many, many more years of them in our community,” noted Griffiths.
The committee structure will remain the same, with the city handling the final financial audit in order to help eliminate overhead costs.
