The trip from Saskatchewan to Winnipeg ought to be a little faster for drivers.

Today is the day the speed limit increases to 110 kilometres per hour on most parts of the Trans-Canada Highway west of Winnipeg to the Saskatchewan border.

The government announced in April that the change would take effect today.

The province said in April some areas are excluded from the increase due to road geometry and traffic signals.
