Manitoba’s Independent Investigation Unit is investigating after a Winnipeg police officer, who was driving his vehicle, collided with a pedestrian.
The Winnipeg Police Service notified the IIU that the off-duty officer was traveling in his personal vehicle eastbound on Portage Avenue near Langside Street yesterday at approximately 9:20 in the morning.
A 46-year-old person was walking between cars across Portage Avenue when the individual was struck. The affected person was transported and admitted to the Health Sciences Centre with undetermined injuries.
Upon WPS receiving information that the pedestrian’s injuries were serious and condition was unstable, WPS notified the IIU. WPS traffic personnel returned to the scene to conduct further examinations and assist IIU in the investigation.
