Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Tom Petty, who drew upon bands he worshipped as a boy to create new classics, has died at 66.
Petty died Monday night at U-C-L-A Medical Center in Los Angeles, a day after suffering cardiac arrest at home in Malibu.
Backed by his band the Heartbreakers, Petty broke through in the 1970s and went on to sell more than 80-million records.
The music world is reacting to the death of rock legend Tom Petty at the age of 66.
