Tent caterpillar control has kicked off in the City of Dauphin.
Parks staff will be spraying the ash trees on the DRS grounds today, and tomorrow they'll be spraying Main Street and one block off Main.
Thursday, May 28 - Southeast and Northeast, Zone 3 of the garbage cycle; ash trees only.
Friday, May 29 - East of Mountain Road, Zone 4 of the garbage cycle.
Monday, June 1 - West of Mountain Road, Zone 1 of the garbage cycle.
Tuesday, June 2 - West of Main Street, Zone 2 of the garbage cycle.
Rec services manager Terry Payne says there might be some over spraying , and if you notice a sticky yellow residue it's easy enough to wash off.
He warns BTK spraying is a control measure that won't get all the worms, and the bugs do need to do some feeding for the poison to be effective.
Payne says on the plus side, Dauphin residents should see lots of dead worms in the near future.
