Manitobans who home brew wine and beer will soon be able to make their products at local stores and take them home when they're ready.
The Liquor and Gaming Authority is now accepting applications from Manitoba retailers that sell home brewing supplies to offer in store brewing services to their customers.
According to Robert Patchell, communications manager with the LGA, this change is being directed at hobbyists who may be interested in home beer and wine making.
"What you can do at an in-store brewing facility or retailer is instead of doing it in your basement or in your house for example, it gives you an opportunity to essentially do the same process but at the retail site. You can for example buy a wine kit or a beer making kit from the retailer, and then you can mix the ingredients at the store, and then let it sit in a carboy fermenter for the number of weeks that it's required. Then you come back and bottle it there and then you take it from that point home or to another offsite location to consume."
Patchell says retailers looking to apply for in-store brewing can contact the LGA's liquor license department.
