June 1 is the deadline for farmers to register as a host farm for Open Farm Day 2015.
According to Gerald Hubner, a director with Manitoba Agriculture, people can register online at www.openfarmday.ca
"That certainly gives information and on that site, people can take a look at what farms participated last year just to give them a taste of what's to come, and there were 4 farms that were in the Parkland area. That gives them a taste of some of the farms that would be in the area of Dauphin, Roblin, Ste. Rose and Ochre River for example."
Hubner says there’s a simple goal the province has in mind for Open Farm Day.
"Many people will remember visiting their relatives farms and this is a way to do that all across Manitoba. To be able to know more about the farm, what happens on the farm, what kinds of things are involved in farm and rural life and being able to reconnect with farms, the production that's on them and the food and products that are produced on those farms."
The event last year saw 8000 people visiting 47 farms across the province.
Open Farm Day this year takes place on September 20.
