Police are treating the death of an 11-year-old girl on a Manitoba First Nation as a homicide.

The body of an 11-year-old girl was found in the Garden Hill First Nation on Monday.

A positive identification of the body has not been made but police and the community believe it is 11-year-old Teresa Robinson.

It was originally believed she may have been mauled by an animal, but RCMP say there is no evidence to suggest animals played a role in her death.

Foul play is suspected but RCMP aren't releasing the details of an autopsy or the cause of death.

No arrests have been made.
