The National Cattle Feeders Association is taking steps to improve the competitiveness of the cattle industry.
The NCFA has adopted a strategy that focuses on research, growth and sustainability for cattle feeding in Canada.
Chairperson Larry Schweitzer says one part of their plan involves the implementation of a new National Beef Strategy.
"It's where we look at competitiveness, social license and also the red tape and helping with regulations as well as trying to balance that off so we're basically involved with the government at all times when they want to change regulations. That's basically the start of the program, it's going to be all across Canada."
Schweitzer says another component of their plan is to have an e-certification system implemented for cattle crossing the border between Canada and the United States.
