Key tags are arriving in Manitoba mailboxes over the next couple weeks, courtesy of the War Amps of Canada.

Safety Events Coordinator James Jordan says the key tags are active right away, and it is a free service.

"It works as soon as you get it in the mail. So put it on your key chain, and the key tag has a nine-digit confidential number on it, so if you ever lose your keys, the finder, whoever finds them, just has to drop them in any Canada Post mailbox or they can call the number on the back and we will send a bonded courier to pick (them) up and deliver it back to the person who lost them."

Jordan says support received through the key tag service goes to fund War Amps programs, but he stresses there is no obligation to donate.

Jordan was born without his left arm. He says he received support from War Amps growing up, including an artificial limb that he thinks his family couldn't have paid for otherwise.
