Dauphin Neighbourhood Renewal has received money for the Community Housing Improvement Initiative.

A grant of $25,000 has been given to the organization from Manitoba Housing.

Community Liason Mary Myhre says this is the second time Dauphin has received this grant, the first was in 2013.

Myhre says there are some things for which they'd like to see the money used.

"Things that improve your energy efficiency. Things that improve the safety or the curb appeal of your home. We're doing lot of windows and doors, but if it needs to be a fence or front steps, we can do that. Outdoor work, not indoor work, but windows and doors for energy efficiency and safety."

Myhre says they want to focus their efforts this year on the west side of the city.

Applications for grants from Dauphin Neighbourhood Renewal will be taken until May 29.
