RCMP say their Westman traffic officers were busy this past weekend, with eight charges laid for very high speeds and one charge laid for impaired operation of a tractor.

A 56-year-old man was arrested on Sunday in the Gilbert Plains area for allegedly driving a tractor while impaired. Police say the man blew more than double the legal limit and was also charged for driving while disqualified.

RCMP say all eight speeding charges are from the Brandon area; seven of them are from Friday night and one is from Saturday afternoon.

RCMP allege the drivers charged were travelling at speeds ranging from 141 to 162 kilometres per hour. One person was charged with Careless Driving under the Highway Traffic Act on top of a fine.
