The council for the Municipality of Grandview is still debating whether or not to implement a new special services bylaw for fire protection services.
Grandview mayor Lyle Morran says the bylaw has yet to go through a second reading in council, after having it's first reading two weeks ago.
Morran says the important thing for people to know about this proposed levy, it that it's not something new.
"It's been there before. There was a five year one before for the fire department and it has run out. Basically we're renewing that, and we don't expect there to be any problems with it. It's just a fair way to tax everybody for the costs of the fire department."
Morran says the previous levy was specifically for the operation of a new fire truck, while the proposed one will cover the operation of the fire department as a whole.
Morran says a final decision on the bylaw should come down from the Grandview council within the next month.
