Manitoba Sustainable Development has designated Whitmore School in Dauphin as an impacted site.
This was one of the major issues raised earlier this week at Mountain View School Divisions general board meeting.
Superintendent CEO for MVSD, Donna Davidson says the board has taken note of the instruction, removed the oil tanks from the area south of the school and that there is no threat to safety.
"Manitoba Sustainable Development Environmental Stewardship Division, indicated that Whitmore School as been designated as an impacted site... it means that there is no immediate danger to humans, animals and the environment but there may be down the road, so what they want us to do is an environmental assessment and remediation plan."
Manitoba Sustainable Development says further investigation or remediation is required.
