A local Parkland museum may be receiving a historical honor.
The Winnipegosis Museum is awaiting recognition for heritage status. In 2010, the Winnipegosis Historical Society embarked on a major fundraising campaign to save the building and its collection of artifacts.
WHS President, Pauline Riley feels the renovations were absolutely needed.
She added, "From the eighties the building had been used as a museum... when we got to 2010 it was very obvious that the building was actually sinking into the ground."
The Board, community and supporters from across the country after 2010 were able to raise $365,000 dollars through local initiatives.
The building was renovated and re-opened for the Village of Winnipegosis Centennial Celebrations in 2015.
