A northern Manitoba town received more unfortunate news today, when it was announced that one particular railway line had been shutdown for the time being.
Earlier today, Omnitrax announced that it had shut down one of its lines from The Pas to Churchill, after a fire damaged a locomotive in The Pas last night.
Mayor for The Pas, Jim Scott has since been contacted by RCMP and says the line should be back up and running shortly.
He added, "They have ensured me that they have concluded their investigation, and it's my understanding that the trains will be rolling by the end of today in the next eight to ten hours."
The Denver-based transportation company, made provincial news nearly a month ago when it announced that it would be closing the Port of Churchill and cutting railway service to the town by half.
