The Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Act that was introduced in 2013, will be officially implemented across the province in all health regions as of September 1st.
Director for Clinical Programs and Services at Prairie Mountain Health, Glenda Short says PMH has already been offering the service to Manitobans.
"Within Prairie Mountain Health we initiated our program in a soft launch format in June, and all newborns that are born within PMH will be screened prior to discharge."
The hearing screening program will now be available in 13 health-care facilities across the province including the Dauphin Health Centre.
