The City of Dauphin will switch to mechanized recycling pick-up, with bigger bins, as of September 13.
CAO Brad Collett says the new recycling service prodiver has a with an automated arm that will collect the bins similar to how garbage is done here in Dauphin.
"The new rolling recycling carts are estimated to be in Dauphin August 29, and delivery will take place shortly thereafter -- in the week or two shortly thereafter -- so they'll be at every residential household in advance of the September 13 start date."
The new rolling recycling bins are big enough for 95 gallons. Recycling will still be picked up once every two weeks.
Not only that, the City of Dauphin is making recycling mandatory come the new year.
"If you don't have your recycling out and used properly, we will not collect your garbage in 2017 until you do."
Collett says city council expects citizens to recycle as it`s both easy and free.
