A burning ban is now in place for the RM of Dauphin.

The RM will not be issuing any more permits at this time and those who already have burning permits are being contacted and told there is a ban in place.

Gilbert Plains and Grandview are following the government of Manitoba guidelines and has not put any ban in place themselves.

Burning permits issued in the eastern and central regions of Manitoba were cancelled earlier this week due to dry, windy conditions.

Motorized off-road and backcountry travel restrictions are now in place for southeastern Manitoba, also. The restrictions are for an area from Provincial Road 302 east to Ontario and the Trans-Canada Highway south to the U.S. border between noon and 7pm daily.

The provincial government says a number of municipalities have implemented burning bans and advise checking with your local municipality for the most up-to-date information.
