A number of local organizations in Gilbert Plains are recipients of several grants from the Gilbert Plains Community Fund.
Over $5000 in grants were handed out to nine different groups in the region.
Community Fund chair Charlene Gulak says they have a history of donating to several organizations.
"The Gilbert Plains Community Fund was established in 2007 in partnership with the Dauphin and District Community Foundation. Annually, we've been returning or giving money back to the community based on project requests that come to our committee. Over the years, we've been very fortunate in giving back thousands of dollars back to our community to support worthwhile projects and activities."
The groups receiving grants are the Gilbert Plains-Grandview Ag Society ($1000), Grand Plains Literacy ($500), Heartland Lanes ($1000), the GP Fitness Centre ($250), Gilbert Plains Elementary ($1000), the Veselka Dance Group ($550), Gilbert Plains Collegiate ($200), Grand Plains Hockey ($500) and the GP Personal Care Home ($841).
